# KatmanKit — FDM Cost & Quote 0.1

Open `KatmanKit.html` in a current desktop browser. The file runs on its own: no account, internet connection or spreadsheet subscription needed. Start with a job you know and replace the sample numbers with yours. This is still a release candidate; browser checks are not finished.

1. Change the job name and currency. All money inputs must already use that currency; no exchange-rate conversion happens.
2. Enter slicer grams **including supports and purge waste** and print time **per part**. This release models sequential identical parts, not parallel plate efficiency.
3. Use average measured printer power in watts and your bill's price per kWh. Machine value divided by useful print life models wear/depreciation.
4. Enter hands-on start/reset work for every attempt, setup once per order, finishing and packaging once per successful part. Include licensing and any additional consumables in Other.
5. Enter your actual effective selling fee, fixed fee and output tax. No tax or marketplace defaults are prescribed. Target margin means contribution divided by pre-tax sales, not markup on cost.
6. Compare 1, 10, 25 and 50 parts. Download the job JSON to save assumptions. Load the JSON to resume. Print a draft customer quote: review the preview, then choose Print / Save PDF. Your internal margin and cost breakdown are excluded from that quote. Unit prices are approximate to two decimals; the order total controls.

## Worked example (illustrative, not market data)
10 parts; 100g each; filament 20/kg; 2h each; average power 100W; electricity 0.20/kWh; machine 1,000 over 2,000 hours; failure 20%; start/reset 2 minutes per attempt; labor 12/h; setup 15 minutes; finish 5 minutes per part; packaging 0.50 per part; shipping 2; other 0; fee 5% + 0.30; margin 25%; output tax 0.

Full attempt cost is 3.44 per part. Expected attempts are 10 / 0.8 = 12.5. Expected attempt cost is 43. Setup 3 + finishing 10 + packaging 5 + shipping 2 gives modeled cost 63. Total quote rounds up to 90.43. Selling fee is 4.8215 and contribution 22.6085. Display rounding does not change underlying calculations.

## A few assumptions to check
The failure allowance assumes each failure consumes a full attempt. It is conservative when failures occur early and assumes independent, constant failure chances. It does not simulate correlated machine faults. Contributions exclude income tax, unentered overhead and unentered expenses. A margin target does not establish demand or guarantee profit. Draft quotes are not tax invoices. Confirm customer specifications, rights, legal terms and deadlines separately.

JSON export stores job name, currency and numeric inputs; the optional customer field is excluded. No automatic browser persistence or data upload is performed. Back up your downloaded JSON. Do not keep sensitive customer details in a public demo.

## If you get stuck
The guide covers opening the file, entering costs, the calculation and saving or reopening a job. If a number looks wrong, keep the job JSON and the steps that led to it; that makes a bug easier to reproduce. Custom integrations and work done for your shop are outside this package.
